Scream And Run How to Use Free Roam

The launch practice playlist. No badge. Still a hunter. Still a school.

Free Roam Mode

Free Roam is the third launch playlist printed on the official Roblox description, sitting next to Hide And Seek and Escape. It is the mode this wiki tells you to queue when you still mix up backpack meshes with chairs, when slide is an accident, or when you want to walk a classroom U without a 5/5 key contract yelling at you. It is not a sandbox with the Cat in the Hat turned off. Treat it as Escape with the win condition removed, not as a peaceful tour.

School grounds and the Cat in the Hat from Scream And Run

There is no Free Roam badge on universe 10761687472 as of 1 September 2026. The two live badges are still Escape The Cat In The Hat and No Power. If a clip promises a secret Free Roam trophy, check the badge sheet before you spend an hour in the wrong playlist.

What Free Roam is for

Use it to learn three things that Escape punishes you for learning live:

  1. The silhouette of a backpack versus clutter. Keys hide in abandoned classrooms and backpacks. Chairs, papers, and lockers are noise. Walk a hall once in Free Roam and count how many meshes you actually interact with. That number should be small.
  2. The binds on the controls cheat sheet. Crouch (C) as a walk, flashlight (F) as a one-second pulse, slide (Shift + C) only on a threshold. Free Roam is where you are allowed to fail a slide into a wall.
  3. Two-door classrooms. Enter one door, sweep a U around the desks, leave the other. If you cannot do that without thinking, you are not ready for a lit Escape, let alone No Power.

Free Roam is also where you test Roblox-level settings: shift-lock, camera sensitivity, mobile HUD placement for crouch and F. Do that here. Do not discover a missing crouch button two minutes into a badge attempt.

What Free Roam is not

It is not Hide And Seek practice. Hide And Seek teaches stillness and relocate-after-a-check. Free Roam teaches routes. If you only Free Roam, you will sprint into Hide And Seek like it is a loot run and get found in the first doorway. Use Free Roam for geography, then sit still in an S-tier room from the hiding-spot list if you actually queued social.

It is not a farm for Infinite Lives. That pass names Escape and No Power. Free Roam deaths are cheap because the playlist is cheap. Spend them learning, not grinding a product that does not apply.

It is not a license to ignore the hunter. The Cat in the Hat can still exist in the school. A Free Roam lobby that treats the hunter as scenery will teach you the worst habit in the game: standing at full height with F held down in a main hall. If the hunter commits, crouch, break line of sight, and treat it as a drill for How to Escape.

A 10-minute Free Roam loop

  1. Spawn. Pulse F. Confirm the beam. Turn it off.
  2. Do not hold Shift down the first corridor. Walk or crouch to the nearest classroom.
  3. U-sweep desks, corners, teacher space, backpack meshes. Leave through a second door if it exists.
  4. Take one hall backpack line against a wall. Skip piles in the middle of a crossing.
  5. At a stair landing, practice one slide, then crouch. If you keep sliding the whole flight, reset the habit.
  6. Pick a two-exit room and sit at crouch height off the window line for thirty seconds. That is Hide And Seek homework, not loot.
  7. Rotate to a second cluster. Reclearing the same doorway teaches you nothing.
  8. If the Cat appears, hide, then go back to the loop. Do not chase clips.

After two of those loops, queue Escape. Free Roam past that point is stalling. The beginner guide is the load-in checklist; this page is the map homework.

Teammates in Free Roam

Fifty-player servers still fill. Push Pass and Grab And Throw still work. A shove in Free Roam is annoying; a shove in Escape is a badge wipe. Use Free Roam to decide whether you will queue with that friend again. Read survivors if your problem is other people, not the floor plan.

Callouts still help: ‘classroom empty, rotating’, ‘stair backpack, pulsing’. ‘Here’ still does not help.

When a patch should change this page

If the studio adds a Free Roam badge, we will date it on release notes and add a row to badges. If Free Roam ever disables the hunter, this page will say so in the first paragraph instead of assuming a live Cat. Until then, practice like the hunter is coming, because on this title the hunter is the point.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

Does Free Roam give a Scream And Run badge?

Not as of 1 September 2026. The live badges are Escape and No Power. Use Free Roam to learn the school, then switch playlists.

Is the Cat in the Hat in Free Roam?

Treat the hunter as live. This is not a confirmed hunter-off sandbox. Practice crouch and line of sight even while you loot.

Should I learn the map in Hide And Seek instead?

No. Hide And Seek teaches stillness. Free Roam teaches routes and backpack silhouettes. Use both, for different jobs.

Can I redeem codes in Free Roam?

There are still no confirmed promo codes. The playlist does not change that. See codes.
